Well, it’s all over the blogosphere and frankly, we can’t have our dedicated Knoxville Films readers left in the dark so here is the exclusive trailer that absolutely everybody has on their blog.
It’s a new Wachowski movie and it features a star studded cast so chances are, you’ll be seeing a LOT of marketing for this little film over the next few months. Nice to see the Wachowski’s taking on a serious philosophical piece for a change.
Stats:
Born to race cars, Speed Racer is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized – the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer, the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5.
When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s maniacal owner but uncovers a terrible secret – some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won’t drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line.
The only way for Speed to save his family’s business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie, Speed teams with his one-time rival – the mysterious Racer X – to win the race that had taken his brother’s life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

this looks to be about the same level of horrible that inspector gadget was made on. hollywood just keeps mining our collective recent pop culture past and repackaging it. pathetic.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2008, 5:33 pmYeah, ‘ya really gotta wonder if the Wachowski’s would look around the set and think, we’ve gone from the Matrix to this–we’re total sell-outs now…Personally, I wouldn’t mind laughing my way to the bank a few times but I definitely agree with your sentiment…
Posted by MSamstag | March 13, 2008, 5:37 pmWhat is it with these Wachowski’s ? Haven’t they got anything else besides adaptations ? Why not do the SCI-FI project I read about several years ago, DreamScapesAxis ? I’d rather see the Wachowski’s back in SCI FI trying to make a family oriented movie. Yeah right, promoting gas guzzling cars, environmentally unsafe sports & wreckless driving amongst our youth is family Oriented. LOL enjoy your greedy money Wachowski’s you’ve sold out. I suspected the Matrix was too far a leap from Bound anyway. Obviously, the rumors are true, the Matrix was a rehash of some else’s works.

(in case you forgot, the cartoon is about racing, I don’t know what the previous posters could possibly be hoping for)
