“Toxic Soup” Documentary from Rory Owen Delaney on Vimeo.

It’s David versus Goliath as this eco-doc follows the lives of everyday Americans who discovered contamination in their backyards and decided to do something about it.
In Mingo, West Virginia, lawyer Kevin Thompson exposes dangerous heavy-metal concentrations in the local well water. In Parkersburg, gym teacher Joe Kiger uncovers an unregulated chemical in his community’s water. And in eastern Kentucky, radiation safety officer Wade Smith tours Ashland Oil’s radioactive oil fields.

Along the way, they fight for standard operating procedures for chemical leak investigations in Institute and Louisville, sit down with the Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C., and visit more than eight universities, including the University of Pittsburgh and UC Berkeley, for expert opinions.

En route we mix it up with filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, protest with actor Jim Carrey, chat with former president Bill Clinton, meet with science-minded moms and Louisville eco-entrepreneur Mark Appleberry, and explore solutions at the Green Convention in San Francisco.
Throughout these cases, the message remains clear: Corporate America is hampering government regulation at the cost of public health and their own continued economic sustainability.
